Spring is ready to make an appearance and we want to make sure you are ready to welcome her with open arms. We known you wouldn't forget freshening up those babies and kids' spaces.
To help you we've reached out to our friends across the mom and baby world for their best cleaning and organizational tips. I have been working for weeks and weeks from my chilly studio with my favorite hand-knit blanket on my lap and the warmest wool socks on my feet. As I am sourcing pieces to complete clients' rooms I notice that my eye is gravitating towards warm, cozy, furry, fuzzy, fluffy, and snuggly pieces. In other words I’ve been craving all the hygge (pronounced hoo-gah) I can handle. What better looks to bring into your nursery or child's bedroom than lots of feel good pieces? While we all want that luxurious quality in such touchy feely things, sometimes in our kids room we find the need to save instead of splurge. That doesn’t mean you need to scrimp on style. These savvy prices on our favorite hygge styles will have you feeling warm and fuzzy all over! I just want to live in Ferpie and Fray's world of hygge – a comfy cozy place surrounded by familiarity. Amanda's refinished furniture pieces are like therapy for the soul of your home. You don’t look, you have a conversation with them and afterwards feel calm and comforted.
When I look at her work I get a sense of something that's always been there – as if they always existed exactly the way she has refinished them. They are understated, statement pieces that are painted in gentle, rich and sometimes slightly daring hues. I often find myself immediately drawn to a piece and then looking back at it a few more times to discover all the little details that it posseses, each time seeing something new; subtle curve of the legs; intricate carved detail; or even the spacing of the knobs or pulls. Keep reading and you'll see why Amanda's work makes you look twice. And wanting more. Sometimes things that look simple or basic are the hardest things to recreate. That could be said for creating a truly authentic looking Nordic space. It's easy to think that just because something is black or white that it equals a Nordic look, but that isn't quite true. The good news is the rules for styling a cool Nordic nursery or kids room are rather straight forward and we call them out for you in seven rules to get it just right! 1. Color Palette Color Palette: The focus on color for all fixtures, furnishings, bedding and decor should be black and white. This might sound challenging for a baby’s room, but there is so many great items out there in this monochromatic coloring currently at IKEA, The Land Of Nod and Pottery Barn Kids. I was looking through dozens of room images taken the day before at a photo shoot capturing the Jarrett’s new nursery, when I received a text from Stephanie, “Thank you for a great room! I just felt like sleeping in there last night ;)”. I simply replied, “You’re welcome!” I then smiled and thought to myself, ”You’ll get plenty of chances to sleep in that room!”.
For us, our online interior design services are not just about creating another pretty room. There are several reason why our clients hire our specialized designers to help them design their children's spaces. And most likely without knowing it these parents are reaping the hidden benefits from investing in a young child's room. 1. EMOTIONAL GROWTH Children grow, that’s what they do. They grow not only physically, mentally and intellectually – they also grow emotionally. With interior design we focus heavily on the aesthetic aspect of a room or how it looks. However, it’s important to consider how everything from textures, patterns and colors you incorporate into your child’s room can directly impact their subconscious – i.e. their level of confidence and ultimately their happiness. |
