As we phase back into a more public life and engaging with others for work and play the lives of mothers are as challenging as ever. Previous to the pandemic we checked in with some of our favorite moms to learn what makes their lives better.

Whether it's a habit, technology, or mindset these seven mom hacks are going to make mothering more manageable.

YouthfulNest founder Lisa Janvrin, "I mean who would pay twice as much for ready-to-use veggies?"
Monica Banks, Gugu Guru founder: "Since I am a work from home mom, the ability to randomly shout out things to Alexa, like “Alexa - add chicken nuggets to grocery list!” or “Alexa - set a reminder to put the laundry in the dryer.” - has been invaluable. I can just have the device keep track of the little to-do’s that pop in my head all day long so that I can be more focused and not have to scramble to write things down before I forget them."

Melisa Fluhr, Project Nursery co-founder: "Put away the family calendar dry erase board and max out your Google calendar. As a multi-tasking work from home mom, I really struggle with being present and getting my work done during "office hours". My google calendar provides me with peace of mind and holds it all together in a major way. Not only do I send and accept invitations for work meetings, but I pull in school calendar feeds (3 different schools!), plan dr. appts., schedule carpools, invite my husband to date nights, block out workout times in the am and even family time on the weekends just to be sure it's all in there and therefore it helps me feel balanced. Sure it's an overwhelming rainbow of colors (each kid has their own shade of green to reflect their schedules) but I swear by it."

Lisa Janvrin, YouthfulNest founder: "I love to cook and my younger, childless self would squawk at precut or prepared anything. I mean who would pay twice as much for cleaned, chopped and ready-to-use veggies? Ummmm, like every hardworking mom who wants to feed her family delicious and nutritious food. I have dropped the guilt and no longer waste my precious weekend time to prep ingredients like cauliflower rice or minced garlic. Plus, there’s less waste because these items are ready to use I am more likely to grab them and start cooking. I find I am not throwing out rotten vegetables. So in the end, I might be saving my family money?!?!”

Jill Koziol, Motherly co-founder: “Be open to evolving your child and household support needs as your family evolves. Now that my girls are both in school full-time we’ve switched from having an au pair to a part-time housekeeper. She preps school lunches and after school snacks for the girls, cleans the house, does laundry, and preps dinner for our family four afternoon + evenings a week.”
Jolene Fontein, YouthfulNest designer: "When I first had my son I was determined to show the world I was fully capable of being a mom. People would offer to bring me food, take him for a walk so I could rest, or simply hold him so I could shower. I refused most offers feeling like I could handle it just like every other mother I had seen. Well now I have learned to take up every offer I can. People want to help and I now realize I have nothing to prove. Every mom needs and appreciates a break. So take the offers and take your breaks!"

Monica Banks, Gugu Guru founder: "Meditation has really changed my life.  I started using Calm in 2017 and it has helped me manage my stress levels and be less reactive. Whether it’s Calm or another app, I highly recommend that all parents (working or not), use meditation as a way to clear their minds and be in better control of emotions."

Lisa Janvrin, YouthfulNest founder: "Finding time to take a shower after having a new baby seems like a luxury – so caring for your skin after you get out seems like an impossible task. I love using Lush Cosmetics Naked Shower Oil bars or Body Conditioners right there in the shower. My favorite scent is Minamisoma, it smells so yummy I just have to be careful not to take a bite. Plus, you are doing your part to save the planet because it comes package free."
