If you are the decision maker for the style of your baby's or child’s room you're a big influence on the final design decisions. I know when designing my son’s nursery I was thinking about how “I” wanted to feel in the space. I knew that there would be crying (him or me) and frustrating moments (again him or me), but I wanted to feel calm to carry on. But it wasn't all about me, ultimately it is about my baby's ability to feel safe, relaxed and experience a minimal amount of stress. Since it’s a proven, scientific fact that babes (and kids) pick-up on the emotional vibe of their parents, I knew I needed a room design that evoked as much peace and serenity within myself as possible. That meant soft neutrals, at my fingertip functionality and soothing sounds. No surprise that the wall color I selected was called "Quietude". (City Night Lite Nursery) Of course minimalism or monochromatic spaces don't make everyone feel at ease. Nor is serenity the only positive emotion to instill in your little one – and when it comes to the older kids they are the ones that are more directly effected by their environment. So for fun, we’ve pulled together a short list of 9 popular room styles and how they translate into personalities.
