Maybe you've seen on social media that I have been working with a client in Chicago. Her name is Jeannine Benoit Adams and she is a real, busy working woman. She is also the mom to the most adorable four year old little boy and pregnant with their second little boy! Being that she owns an online wardrobe styling company, Ready Pretty, she is all about working virtually. Which is where YouthfulNest's virtual services comes in. Our services allowed her to sneak in time to make design decisions for two youthful spaces, a big kid bedroom and a nursery. All doable when it worked for her and her schedule. As with all virtual design projects, Jeannine first completed our online Project Overview questionnaires and submitted them via her cell phone. After I studied them we booked a call to discuss the projects based on her specific input. We discussed budgets, visions, timing, functionality, room likes and dislikes, etc. As well as went over what she can expect from the whole online process. If you've been looking for just the right look, chances are you've come across Anewall's rich and inspiring designs. If you haven't... oooh girl, you're in for a treat! The decidedly vintage and travel inspired prints in the Anewall collection are so stunning that if you weren't considering incorporating wallpaper in your baby or kid's room, you probably will be after seeing them. The Anewall wall covering's endearing designs feature animals, nature, landscapes, florals and even some modern graphic patterns – while they may exude a hint of vintage, they are anything but antiquated. And if you aren't completely enamored with one of their luxe designs as-is, you can customize a design's color and measurements. We caught up with the two ladies behind Anewall (pronounced a–new-wall), to learn about their inspiration for inspiring others. Q&A With Anewall co-founders, Sydney and Richele Inspiring entire room designs one wall at a time

Not all mama birds need our help designing a youthful nest. In fact, it was rather clear from our first conversations that Ashley had amazing design vision and style. It was about one year ago that we met and I learned that she was managing all the design decisions for a home they were building. She passionately spoke about finishes and layouts. While it was obvious Ashley wouldn't become a YouthfulNest client, I knew I needed to find a way to collaborate with her. We decided that her writing for our blog would be one of those ways – a win for us and our readers. Today she shares a peek into a very special room in her new home, her daughter Ever's new big girl bedroom. As parents we look to keep our kiddos healthy. We are concerned about the food that goes in their bodies; the clothes they wear on their back; the shampoos that wash their hair. So don't forget the place where their entire bodies rest for 8-14 hours – their mattress. We are super fans of investing in a quality mattress for both the crib and their big kid bed. Not only do you need to select the proper firmness for each stage there is also the decision to make about the functionality in terms of bed wetting. And finally lets talk about the health and safety benefits of that mattress. To do this topic justice we catch up with our friends at Naturepedic, producers of luxury organic mattress for the entire family. Learn what safe, healthy sleeping really means. I decided it was time to high-jack a blog post to share my personal mom-to-be nursery design story being it is the reason my company YouthfulNest was born. This isn't a snoozy startup story. It's me sharing insights as an anxious, first time mom who nested so hard, trying to make everything perfect, that I ruined my brand new white nursery carpet – months before bringing home my baby. I definitely had an out-of-body experience being a first time mom-to-be. I wanted everything in the nursery to be "perfect" before bringing home my baby. This made me realize just how unique and challenging a baby nursery was to create, even for a seasoned designer. It was my own struggles with overwhelming decisions, budget, room size and functionality which led me to developing a better interior design experience. One that would help other parents do it with more ease and confidence. This post may contain affiliate links and which help support our blog efforts.
Princesses, animals, outer space oh my! Kids’ rooms are a great place to express your child’s little personality and get really creative. But just like adults, your child wants a bedroom that they can retreat to. One that is functional, but fun and inspiring. Here are some things to keep in mind when designing for your child’s bedroom.

It's time! Maybe your little one is simply growing out of their crib and needs more space. Maybe they have developed a personality that no longer jives with their baby room styling. Or maybe mom and dad are ready to help them grow. Whatever the indications or reasoning, at some point your baby is going to be ready for a "big kid" bedroom probably around the age of 3. Below I share five simple makeover tips for a smooth transition from the nursery into that more mature space that should be fun for you and them. I knew it was time to makeover my son's nursery that started it all for YouthfulNest, 'City Night Lite', after removing the changing pad and baby toiletries from the changing area. My son has also developed quite the interest in cars, it's beyond toy cars. He loves flipping through car mags with dad and can name almost any model that drives by us on the road or he's sees parked on the street. I really wanted to bring in "some" of his love of four wheel vehicles into his personal space. Especially since we don't do toys in the bedroom. We took our time and didn't race through the process. We had a couple speed bumps along the way, like when I told him with excitement he was getting a brand new full size organic mattress from Naturepedic. He wasn't as thrilled as mom was – instead he sulked and almost came to tears in a couple conversations about the change. I asked him why he was so upset and he said, "I just don't want to get rid of my very first mattress." I seized the opportunity to point out that his very first mattress was actually the crib mattress which we had already given away. " Then he said, "Oh, O.K." And we put that discussion to bed. In the end he loves the new bed frame and mattress because it is several inches lower then the original guest bed that was in his nursery so he can easily get up and slide off the bed. He thinks his new bed and all the other newness is perfect for him! This post may contain affiliate links which help support our blog efforts. As we geared up to transform my son's nursery into a big boy room I thought about the new functionality I wanted him to have in his room. We don't keep toys in his room, I like that there is one area in the house that isn't covered in toy cars. His nursery was designed as a place to get ready for the day or bed; read books and relax. What I did think would be a nice addition is an upcycled kid's table and chair, the perfect DIY project. I wanted this space to provide the same simplicity and feeling of lightness so there really wasn't much to do, but remove his crib and reposition his new full size bed. I even left the hand-made airplane and star mobile because it adds such a nice element of movement and texture above his NYC Skyline Mural. This seating area is just his size could be a place for resting his piggy bank, those special Lego builds and playing simple card games like Spot It! And since we don't play cars I found a nice way to bring his favorite toy into his room in a creative uncluttered way that also worked well with his "city travel" inspired bedroom design. |
